Altobel uses a Lime wood which is typical in Portugal and Italy. It is a hard wood comparable to North America's Mahogany with a color like Maple or Birch wood. This type of hard wood finishes off beautifully by simply rubbing it with oil. It is alos impervious to moisture and does not warp and is great for carving.  There is a limited harvesting of this type of wood.
